Day 62 of coronavirus in France
Day 11 of enforced confinement
Share positive stories of love and charity. Encourage those that benefit from your acts of service to show their gratitude by paying it forward to someone else and watch the tidal wave grow.
Our church is loving and serving people who are stressed, lonely and grieving. Accompanying people through trauma is what the church is made for. In the capital cities of Europe the containment protocol is strict and for good reason; everyone knows someone who has died from this virus. Where the world is confronted with the limitations of video conferences, love is understood best when it’s tangible.
God does not ask you to sacrifice resources that you don’t have, only to invest the time and energy that you do have. Each of us have a unique set of talents.
“Grace and peace to you. We always thank God for all of you, making mention of you in our prayers and continually recalling before our God and Father your work of faith, your labor of love, and your enduring hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 1:1-6
Brothers who are beloved by God, we know that He has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power, in the Holy Spirit, and with great conviction—just as you know we lived among you for your sake. And you became imitators of us and of the Lord when you welcomed the message with the joy of the Holy Spirit, in spite of your great suffering.”
Bible Reading Kits
We are delivering Bible reading kits directly to people’s front doors to empower them to listen to the voice of God daily. Our disciple making team has crafted bookmarks of study questions. Pencil cases include ribbons, sticky notes and pens to highlight
verses they want to remember. A phone call will inform them of the delivery and walk them through joining the online study group.
Donate Mask Supplies
We donated clothes from our closet and filters to the seamstresses who are making homemade masks for healthcare workers who are still waiting for them.
Volunteer at a Hospital
If you have the freedom volunteer at a hospital. This is a friend who volunteered to get transferred to the COVID-19 ward in a local hospital.
Bake Something
Baking cookies was just the beginning. Cakes and fajitas were also a hit. As well as invitations to a barbecue once this is all over.
Ration
If you’re in a town that has imposed purchase limits on essentials, donate some of your ration to a larger family.
Shop for Your Neighbors
Take a neighbor’s grocery list with you to the grocery store to reduce the number of those going out.
Say Thank You
Cultivate a spirit of gratitude around you.
Send Uplifting Messages
Easter celebration banners bearing spiritual messages will continue uplift spirits even after the season is over. A ribbon of artfully depicted Easter scenes and inspirational verses were delivered to disciples within a 1 km radius with sweet treats and lilacs from our backyard.
Food Pantry
Our local food pantry which normally required recipients to come to their shop, has restructured and now makes baskets and delivers them to people’s doors.
Donate Medical Grade Supplies
Does your workplace have gloves and masks in storage? Donate any gloves and masks you might have access to, to hospitals.
Sew Masks
Volunteer to sew masks for local healthcare workers, nursing home staff, home health professionals, and others who may not have masks — ask them which style and materials they will accept.
Care Packages for Essential Workers
Show your appreciation in your own way. Cookies, cards, masks, artwork, the sky is the limit.
Start a Kindness Pandemic
