It has been said that Americans are cooperative but not collective.
In comparison the French are collective but not cooperative.
“Everyone will know that you are my disciples because of your love for each other.” – John 13:35
In order to learn to love in a new culture we need to wrap ourselves in common values. By learning what makes others tick we can see more clearly that neither cooperative or collective societies are more Biblical, but the challenge is to demonstrate love, deep care, within that structure. May we be a blessing to our friends by our presence and participation when collectivity is appropriate, “being there for them”. May we honor God in the way we pour out love on our friends.
