I got out the golf-toss game for youth group tonight and Cupcake and I had a blast assembling it. Of course for the first dozen pipes I directed, “I know this one goes here,” and “We need a small one next.” Then when there were three pipes left I let my three-year-old figure them out. She picked up a short pipe and walked straight to the ladder with courage. Then holding it in place, she sized up the situation glancing right, then left, then right, then left… until finally she announced with confidence, “This piece is too small. I need a big long one.” And that was that. She walked over to the pile of pipes, picked out the long one and snapped in place the last three pipes to complete the ladders.
