Ivermectin – results are in

Guilherme Dias de Melo explains: ‘Our study provides preclinical data that scientifically demonstrate a protective action of ivermectin during SARS-CoV-2 infection in an animal model. These data are essential to support human clinical trials.'” (source: L’Institut Pasteur, Paris – press release 12 July 2021)

You have undoubtably heard that “In a March 31, 2021 advisory, WHO advises against the use of ivermectin to treat Covid-19 outside of clinical trials until more data are available.

“Here, we show that standard doses of ivermectin (IVM), an anti-parasitic drug with potential immunomodulatory activities through the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway, prevent clinical deterioration, reduce olfactory deficit, and limit the inflammation of the upper and lower respiratory tracts in SARS-CoV-2-infected hamsters.” (source: EMBO Molecular Medicine, peer reviewed research study, 12 July 2021)

If this inexpensive treatment is successful on humans we will only have to treat the symptomatic and not vaccinate the masses. It’s not released for immediate application, so we still have a few months before we know if it will be effective. And in the meantime, the state has already placed orders for thousands of vaccinations.

Do you know what else happened on the 12th of July?

Macron, the president of France, announces that for the next few months vaccination will be compulsory for both certain populations and certain contexts. 10,000 people who had not voluntarily requested vaccination, booked appointments that day for their first shot. It looks like those vaccinations will be put to good use after all. (source and summary, Paris, 12 July 2021)
